Dear Customers and Friends:
We’ve all heard about angels. You may have worn a necklace with a guardian-angel pendant or prayed for an angel to look over a dying friend or family member. Angels are mentioned throughout the pages of the Bible such as Gabriel who proclaimed the birth of Christ.
Have you ever personally encountered an angel? It’s likely you have, even if you didn’t take notice. I believe angels can appear in subtle ways to protect us from harm or simply to remind us to be kind to others.
A good friend of mine once shared a story about hurrying into a grocery store when he passed by someone who was
obviously distraught and possibly homeless. My friend avoided eye contact and was about to walk inside when he felt something tug at his heart. Immediately turning around to offer assistance, he was shocked at what he saw (or didn’t see). The stranger had vanished in mere seconds.
It was a missed opportunity that he regretted but later interpreted as a test from an earthly angel. Next time, he vowed to stop, keeping in mind the Bible verse from Matthew about how we are sharing our love with Jesus whenever we give aid to “the least of these my brothers and sisters.”
When I was 8 years old, my dad saved my life as I was about to imitate stuntman Evel Knievel and hurdle over a large creek on my motorized minibike. Just seconds from making my jump, he spotted me out of the corner of his eye and nearly tackled me off my bike. On that day, Dad was an angel. No doubt about it.
When I talk about practicing Faith Over Fear at the office or home, I believe unseen angels are there, watching over us and often interceding in ways we cannot understand. Nevertheless, these silent angels are reassurance to me, proof that our lives are safely in God’s hands.
