A New, Exciting ‘Season’ for Turbo Terminal Tractors
Greg Syfan, President
No season can last forever (as much as we might prefer summer over winter). We’re familiar with the economic roller coaster, and we’ve stayed hard at work to ensure that we can put our best foot forward – even during these downturns.
So, what do we do best? Service our customers. That’s why we decided to focus on Syfan Logistics and Trilogy and seek out someone better ‘equipped’ to handle the equipment business of Turbo Terminal Tractors.
Around last October, we began looking for the right fit that would check off our boxes for the sale. We believe we have found that fit with Mantucket Capital, a private investment firm based in Denver. They wanted to keep Turbo as it is, where it is, and with the hard-working team it has. That checks nearly every box I had hoped for. As a family-run business, they have a background similar to ours, and they have the impressive financial resources to continue to grow Turbo. Mantucket is aggressive like we’re aggressive; they’re not happy with double, because they’re aiming for triple. With their knowledge of leasing and equipment expertise, I believe it will happen.
Turbo has been part of the Syfan family since the beginning. When my father, Jim Syfan, was going through a tough time in the trucking business in the ‘80s, we decided with God’s help that we would open up our first family business. After we got our first team member, then came the second, and fourth, and we were fortunate to grow and expand.
Over time, we developed our methodology of doing business. To paraphrase Dad about 40 years ago, we strive for that still today.
Between Mantucket’s finances and experience and the leadership of Chris Smith at Turbo, I have faith everyone involved will benefit greatly from this sale. This will free us up to focus on our team, our service, and staying up to date with the latest innovations that logistics has to offer.
SYFAN SUPPORTS | 5K FUN RUN HAS GROWN INTO A SUMMER STAPLE
This year’s 5K supported Love Your Story, a local nonprofit that offers free temporary housing for families traveling to Gainesville for their child to receive healthcare.
The Syfan Supports 5K drew 380 participants this year.
Our 5K brings together runners and walkers of all ages.
Born three years ago as a way for Syfan Logistics to support nonprofit organizations, the Syfan Supports|5K Fun Run has grown to a community-wide family event each summer.
The brainchild of CEO Jim Syfan, the 5K Fun Run drew 380 runners and an equal number of supporters who came to enjoy the festivities on July 18.
“It was a dream of Mr. Jim’s to bring the community together, while also pouring back into the community,” said Rachel Little-Day, who oversees plans for the event each year. “It was a big vision that he had.”
The Syfan Supports|5K Fun Run has done just that. This year’s recipient was Love Your Story, a local nonprofit that is dedicated to providing free temporary housing for families with disabled children traveling to Gainesville for their child to receive care.
“We are incredibly grateful for the Syfan family’s continued support and leadership in creating spaces of belonging through the Syfan Supports|5K,” said Abigail Burle, CEO and Executive Director of Love Your Story. “Seeing our community show up in such a big way reminds us that we’re not doing this alone. Every runner, volunteer, and sponsor is part of helping families feel seen, supported, and never alone in their journey.”
My Sister’s Place, a Christ-centered ministry for single women and mothers with children who are experiencing homelessness in Northeast Georgia, has been chosen as the beneficiary of next year’s race. A different nonprofit will be selected each year, and there are plans in the works to let the community help choose the beneficiary.
“The long-term goal and the dream is to create a place on our website, where people would send in their information and ask for the opportunity to benefit from the 5K,” Little-Day said.
It is not just a Fun Run. There are plenty of fun activities, including bounce houses, face painting, balloon artists, and plenty of sweet treats.
“Anything that Syfan does is going to be family-oriented,” Little-Day said. “We are trying to grow it even more, so that it is a family-driven event, and even if you don’t want to race, you still want to come, because you want to be a part of it.”
Come out and have fun with us next year. We’ll keep you posted on the details.
Syfan Says: We’re Proud to Be GM’s “Supplier of the Year”!
James Syfan, left, and Tony Cash represented Syfan Logistics at the General Motors event.
At Syfan, we believe that consistency, teamwork, and unwavering commitment to service set us apart—and that’s exactly what earned us a huge honor this year. We’ve been named General Motors’ 2024 Supplier of the Year, recognized at GM’s awards event in Phoenix that’s been running for more than three decades.
Being one of just 92 suppliers across 12 countries invited to stand among GM’s finest reflects what we’ve always believed: our partnerships aren’t just transactions; they’re built on collaboration, safety, innovation, and transparent communication.
Greg Syfan says it best: “We are incredibly thankful to General Motors for this award. Our partnership with GM has been strong for many years, and this honor is a testament to the collaborative efforts of our teams.”
It’s this shared commitment across every team member and every mile that keeps us moving forward together.
To all of you—our team, our partners, and our customers—this award belongs to you as much as it does to us. Thanks for always going the extra mile, with integrity and excellence.
Thank you for your trust, your drive, and your partnership.
Team Member Spotlight: Rachel Little-Day
A singer and executive admin who keeps our operations center humming
Rachel Little-Day, left, with her husband, Dennis, and children Avery and Noah. |
Rachel Little-Day has always had a passion for singing. Throughout her life, she has embraced her love for music, sharing her talent through different outlets.
She started taking voice lessons at a young age after meeting her voice coach, who sang “Happy Birthday” to her at the Macaroni Grill.
“I started voice lessons at six, and then sang in different competitions,” Rachel said. “You know, singing was my sport. The hope is that my kids will find passion in music, too.”
Rachel’s love of singing has carried into her adult life. She sang with a local favorite, the Fly Betty Band, for several years.
When she was 19, she began performing in her first group: the Atlanta Sound Band, a 15-piece band that was a popular wedding and corporate event performer. Over the years, she has been a part of several bands.
She now dedicates her vocal skills to her church, 12Stone Church in Jackson County.
At Syfan Logistics, she keeps the operations center in tune as its executive administrator. She also takes on special projects, including overseeing the company’s highly successful Syfan Supports|5K Fun Run.
In her fourth year at Syfan, Rachel praises the company’s family-centered approach. In Rachel’s case, she has family in the building. Her mom, Candice Carlson, is a long-time employee.
“Syfan is a big family,” Rachel said. “It’s an extension of our family, for sure. My kids consider (Executive Vice President) Steve (Syfan) to be Papa Steve. That says a lot. They love him, and he’s so good with kids.”
Rachel and her husband, Dennis, will celebrate their 14th anniversary in October. Dennis is a sales and service representative for Cintas’s first aid and safety division and has been recognized as its top salesman for four years in a row. They have two children, Avery, 7, and Noah, 5.

HARNESSING NEW TECHNOLOGY FOR GREATER EFFICIENCY
Our IT Team is always seeking new technology that will help us serve our customers better and improve our efficiency. |
At Syfan Logistics, we continually seek new technologies to improve our efficiency in an ever-evolving industry.
That’s why we are committed to exploring innovative technologies that can enrich our operations and better serve our customers.
We recently introduced three new tools to enhance communication, decision-making, and productivity.
We have upgraded to Zoom, not only as our phone system but also as a unified communication platform that integrates phone calls, chats, and emails into a single, easy-to-use application.
This “single pane of glass” approach enables us to quickly access all information related to a load number, improving the efficiency of our interactions. Zoom’s advanced AI features help us monitor quality, create agent scorecards, and ensure exceptional customer service.
We are utilizing Transfix, an AI-powered rating engine that combines market rates with our historical data to analyze load costs across various lanes, thereby optimizing pricing through predictive analytics.
To boost employee performance, we have implemented Time Doctor, a tool that tracks productivity against key metrics and promotes efficiency within our team.
Together, these tools improve our operations, allowing us to provide smarter, faster, and more reliable logistics solutions to our customers.
