Gratitude is the best vaccine
Dear Customers and Friends:
This month, as fear over the yearlong pandemic is waning, I want to begin shifting the focus of our monthly Faith Over Fear messages. I’d like to present thoughts on Christian ethics that we all can practice, whether at home or in the workplace.
As I’ve often said to my colleagues at Syfan Logistics, if you want to be successful, it makes good plain business sense to follow Christian virtues.
I recently watched a video sermon by Joakim Lundqvist, a Swedish pastor. (Yes, I have been broadening my horizons lately!) Here is my summary of his thoughts on the biblical virtue of gratitude:
- Gratitude is the door to experiencing God’s presence and the key to happiness. Therefore, we should start every prayer by expressing sincere thanks for His blessings.
- Gratitude brings freedom – emotionally, physically, spiritually, and relational. Therefore, we should have a spirit of thanksgiving in every circumstance, even in bad times.
- Gratitude is a daily choice. You can never fully control your circumstances each day, but you can always control your attitude. Adopt an attitude of gratitude – even when we suffer and don’t understand why.
- Gratitude is infectious. When you adopt a spirit of thanksgiving, it affects everyone around you.
- Gratitude and grudges cannot co-exist. Choosing gratitude means letting go of something else like bitterness, disappointment, anger, or frustration.
We all have so much to be thankful for. We live in the greatest country in the world. We are surrounded by so much beauty – like nature, our families, and children. And we can finally get together again with our friends and loved ones now that COVID cases are dwindling.
Let’s focus on all these good things in our life and adopt an attitude of gratitude. I promise you it is the best medicine, even better than the strongest vaccine!
Blessed to be a Blessing,
