Syfan Logistics has added the ability to support real-time rating APIs to its arsenal of technology tools under a partnership with a leading digital automation company.

API, or Application Programming Interface, is a software intermediary that allows two applications to communicate with each other. In order to work, both the shipper and the 3PL must have the API technology in place.

Syfan is using APIs to provide faster and more efficient cost-bidding for spot loads on the shipper bid boards of many of its larger customers.

“This technology is rapidly growing into the standard protocol for spot-load bidding and electronic communications, far surpassing traditional EDI and manual methods,” said James Syfan, senior vice president of sales with Syfan Logistics. “The system uses digital ‘bots,’ programmed with specific data and specifications by our team, to efficiently compile accurate load bids in a matter of milliseconds.”

Syfan is partnering with an automation company that only works with the top 100 3PLs in the United States. Its exclusive software allows users to convert their complex domain expertise into a rich, storied decision tree that can be cross-linked and aggregated across domains to provide real-time rates based on available capacity.

“We are already utilizing this program with a number of our larger clients who also utilize API technology,” Syfan said. “It’s been a win-win partnership that helps us better serve our customers in a manner that is in line with our longtime focus on open and transparent communications.”

For shippers interested in partnering with Syfan, the first step involves obtaining API documentation to link active needs directly to Syfan’s rating engine. For more information, contact James Syfan at James.Syfan@SyfanCorp.com.
